A Wonder of Craftmanship: Parkwood Apartments Curved Windows

Starting in 2023, our work remediating Parkwood Apartments, an eight-storey complex located in Newmarket has been busy with an exciting undertaking:

To refurbish the building's facade, we are installing eight levels of curved walls, consisting of rolled steel beams, purpose-manufactured CNC-cut plywood top and bottom plates, and timber framing with faceted windows.

The work requires precision, impressive craftsmanship from our carpentry team and meticulous planning by our site management team to ensure the curved walls are perfectly plumb and aligned across each level. For perspective, more than 14,000 screws are going into the complex connections to ensure structural integrity.

The curved frameless windows face the East, in order to maximise the view of Rangitoto and the harbour, providing residents of the new building with an unparalleled vista in the city.
