Aurora College
Brosnan first foray in Southland, supporting the kura's philosophy of whakawhanaugatanga.
Aurora College | Te Mūranga a Rangi is situated in South Invercargill and serves the educational needs of rangatahi | youth in the area, specifically students from year seven to 13. A central philosophy of the kura | school is whakawhanaungatanga, which focuses on building connections and relationships between its students | ākonga, staff, and community.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) | Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga has been working with the kura since 2021, planning a large redevelopment. The kura has several key condition issues that need to be addressed, including deferred maintenance, weathertightness, asbestos concerns, and the presence of buildings that are near the end of their lifespan.
This project involves demolishing approximately 50% of the existing buildings on site and building two new fit-for-purpose single-storey buildings, as well as infrastructure, civil, and landscape works. Aurora College is Brosnan’s first project in Invercargill.
