Constellation Bus Station

Major transport hub upgrade with pedestrian overpass
Constellation Bus Station on Auckland’s North Shore underwent a significant upgrade as part of the Northern Corridor Improvements project, enhancing service for the Albany and North Shore communities. The works included constructing a new northbound platform and a striking glass and steel pedestrian bridge, which was craned into place overnight to minimise disruption. The project also delivered a new ticket office, toilets, lifts, and driver facilities, alongside the erection of a structural steel main frame and an intricate glass façade.
Integration of existing and new electrical and ICT networks added complexity, requiring careful coordination. Operating within a live transport environment, the team prioritised safety and minimised noise and dust, ensuring uninterrupted passenger and road user flow. Regular communication with stakeholders and meticulous planning were key to the project’s success. The upgrade was completed to a high standard, with no serious harm incidents, and strengthened partnerships across all involved teams.
