Oxford Area School

Modern learning environments delivered for Oxford Area School
Te Kura o Te Poho Rakahua/Oxford Area School in North Canterbury underwent a major redevelopment to replace outdated prefabricated classrooms and improve learning environments for students from years 1 to 13. The project included constructing new classrooms, a library, and an administration block, as well as upgrading general facilities and demolishing the old science block.
Intelligent staging minimised disruption, with students moving into new spaces before further demolition. The design featured quality finishes, including décortech ceilings, requiring a skilled and detail-focused team. A partnership with local recycling company Rangiora Skips ensured at least 60% of project waste was recycled. Some works were scheduled outside school hours to reduce impact on learning and exams.
The project was delivered on time for the first day of school in 2024, strengthening the school’s role as a community hub and earning the trust of local residents and stakeholders.
