Shore Junction

Actively involving the youth in the design and functionality of the space, valuing and incorporating their ideas, resulted in a building with unique interior characteristics.
Initially, Yes Disability Resource Centre engaged Brosnan on an ECI basis, marking the beginning of a collaborative journey. During the ECI process, Brosnan played a crucial role in assisting and advising the client in the pre-planning stages of what would evolve into a transformative project. Brosnan’s involvement led to being appointed as the main contractor in 2019.
The project involved the redevelopment of the old Takapuna RSA building, turning it into a state-of-the-art youth hub. Facilities included a music room, digital suite, arts space, study/office areas, and a computer lab. The building featured complicated strucural steel design and required an innovative and collaborative design team to transform the existing structure into a modern building. Students were actively involved in the design process. Their insights and ideas played a pivotal role in shaping the space, ensuring that it resonated with the needs and aspirations of the community.
Notably, the students themselves decided on the name “Shore Junction”. Brosnan’s team worked hand in hand with the client to bring Shore Junction to fruition, completing it on time and within budget.
A community funded project, the budget for Shore Junction was extremely tight and inflexble. The team effectively managed their resources and delivered the project within the client’s budget.
The project was completed with minimal challenges. The end result was of high quality and was delivered on time and within budget. It had a positive impact on the community and stands as a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and shared commitment.
