An extensive undertaking, weathertightness works took place on five classrooms and teaching spaces, the school hall/gymnasium, teaching facilities, and administrative offices of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Ara Whanui.

The project included removing and replacing the existing exterior cladding with a new brick and metal cladding system. Additionally, the existing window aluminium joinery was replaced, and the membrane roof was upgraded with a weathertight structure.

Excellent recycling initiatives were implemented, such as using fully recyclable and reusable products like SaveBoard. Significant scope changes arose due to a negative timber testing report. All timber framing had to be replaced in one building and 20% in another. Due to unexpected steel erosion, structural steel required replacement in the hall/gym.

The client was extremely satisfied with the quality and timeliness of the first stage’s delivery, leading to Brosnan’s appointment as the main contractor for the next stages. The project timeline was significantly reduced through efficient subcontractor procurement and flexible programming, and it maintained an excellent safety record, reflecting a commitment to a secure work environment.
