Unitec Block 108

Major remediation and upgrade of Unitec Block 108
Te Pūkenga Unitec Block 108, a double-storey, 4,500m² building in Mount Albert, underwent extensive remediation and refurbishment to address a leaky asbestos roof and outdated interiors. Brosnan, engaged under an ECI agreement, replaced the roof, reclad the structure, and completed a full interior fit-out.
The project was delivered in multiple stages to allow reoccupation as areas were completed, with the scope expanding to include an additional 3,500m² of floor area and three new lobby areas. Strict health and safety protocols were followed due to significant asbestos and mould risks, and the live campus environment required careful planning for equipment and logistics.
Rapid ECI engagement and ongoing collaboration enabled innovative solutions and programme adaptations. The project was recently completed, providing a high-quality learning facility for Te Pūkenga Unitec, and was recognised with Brosnan’s Project Team Award in the 2022 Excellence Awards.
