Wainuiomata Primary School

Staged refurbishment and weathertightness upgrades
Wainuiomata Primary School, one of Wellington’s oldest schools, underwent a staged refurbishment to address weathertightness issues and modernise learning spaces. Brosnan managed repairs and upgrades to Blocks A and B, with Block B vacated for renovations and Block A remaining occupied.
Works included re-roofing, classroom and office refurbishments, upgraded bathrooms, new sliding doors, and improved fire and security systems. The team used a fully secure, recyclable saveBOARD hoarding system to ensure safety in the live school environment and coordinated walkthroughs with student representatives to foster engagement.
Unexpected discoveries, such as fire-damaged rafters, were managed efficiently with a temporary roof system, preventing delays. Local contractors were engaged, and unused materials were recycled through the community garden. The project was completed without significant delays, achieving all goals and earning appreciation from the school community.

“We really enjoyed working with the team at Brosnans during this project. Candice, Schalk and Ross (members of Brosnan's team) kept us well informed during the whole process and went the extra mile to help make things work. We are thrilled with the end result. The classrooms and verandah look amazing and we have had many positive comments about the building work from our wider school community. Thanks heaps Brosnans!”
